Melvyn Malkin has a diverse and interdisciplinary background in art, extending over many decades. His experience includes a long and rewarding architectural practice, a BFA degree in drawing and printmaking and years spent producing unique raku fired ceramics.
Throughout his architectural practice Mel exhibited his drawings and prints in commercial galleries. Over the last seventeen years he has been working in raku fired ceramics and recently (2007) he has returned to focus on drawing in pastel and graphite.
Mel‘s interest in clay continues in the mural format. The murals are individual projects and information is provided by appointment.
Represented in galleries across Canada, Mel is the recipient of many design and purchase awards. His work is regularly included in group and solo shows and is held in many private, corporate and gallery collections.
From Mel Malkin:
“The focus of my art is the landscape. The sense of light and space in the prairie environment is a significant part in my imagery.”
“Working in pastel appeals to me. It allows the spontaneity and intensity of color that suits my way of working.
